This is a very cool film - though it was not released recently, I only saw it last night. I actually only heard about it recently, and I have no excuse! My cousin Max wrote up a review of District 9 last year!!
Its a film about aliens, and how our culture might deal with their arrival, and possible integration. Without disclosing too much, the film follows a corporate puppet given the task of "legally" relocating the aliens out of their encampment to a plot of land much further away from human civilization.
Its based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and parallels the racial struggles that have plagued the country for years.
Before I continue, definitely read Max's review of District 9, he'll set you straight.
